(1503-1566) Nostradamus was a French physician and astronomer who became famous for his astrological predictions. In 1555 he published a book of prophecies called Centuries. He correctly predicted the manner of death of Henry II four years ahead of time. Some of his predictions are thought to have foretold events that occurred much later, such as during the French Revolution. Nostradamus became physician to King Charles IX, the second son of Henry II. (Charles was a descendent of Lorenzo the Magnificent, ruler of Florence in Leonardo's day.)
